Mission Beach is a one and a half hour drive south from Cairns International & Domestic Airports, and a two hour drive north from Townsville Airport.
Turning off the Bruce Highway at either Tully or El Arish, a scenic 20 minute drive will have you right in the middle of paradise. You can self drive, hire, come by coach, or arrange a private transfer.
Taking its name from the aboriginal mission established in 1912, Mission Beach comprises some half dozen communities stretching north from Tam O'Shanter Point through South Mission, Wongaling, Mission Beach village and Clump Point, to Bingil Bay.
Mission Beach offers you the closest access to the Great Barrier Reef in North Queensland - only 50 minutes away - and yet it's coastline remains completely unspoilt, unlike other tourist destinations to the north and south.
The area is also dotted with National Parks, rivers, lagoons, waterfalls and ravines. Over 200 years of geological and climatic change has produced unique flora and fauna and the area now has one of the richest eco-systems on the Australian continent.
